Daniel worked in the Sustainable Dairy Cropping Systems project and also explored ways in bolster spider populations in crop fields. His spider research focused on identifying factors that limit spider abundance in agricultural fields. Understanding what spiders need to be successful hunters will help us to develop a strategy for implementing them in biological control. Since they are so widespread and ecologically diverse, spider-mediated biological control could be an effective pest management strategy around the world. Due to his enthusiasm for spiders, we referred to him as "spider boy."
