Logan successfully defended his Masters thesis! His work assessed the potential of water mites as bioindicators of stream habitats in Pennsylvania. Logan found that (1) mite diversity correlates with important stream quality metrics, (2) water mites can be collected during times of the year that other macroinvertebrates cannot, and (3) despite widespread belief, water mites are not difficult to collect or identify. His work illustrates that water mites have a lot of potential as stream quality indicators. Way to go Logan, and congratulations!
