Entomology Graduate Program

The Penn State graduate program in Entomology offers both a Master of Science (M.S.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree. These research degrees encourage students to conceive and implement novel research within the insect sciences. Our research, whether basic or translational, is relevant to human and animal health, environmental health, and/or food security.

Graduate Degree Programs in Entomology

Our graduate program in Entomology is ranked among the best. The National Research Council (NRC) ranked the Department's program in the top 10% in their survey that was released September, 2010. Our Department was also ranked among the top 10 graduate programs at Penn State. The NRC rankings were based upon data from 2005 and 2006.

Although we have good reason to be proud of these rankings, we are especially excited with all that has happened since 2006. We have hired fourteen faculty members from the best programs in the world. Since 2006, our faculty publication rates have tripled, our graduate student population has doubled, and our total extramural grant funding is exceeding $50 million for 2020. The opportunities with Penn State Entomology have never been brighter.
