- Please join us as we welcome Elizabeth Rowen from the University of California - Riverside as she presents on her research seminar titled "A multi-pronged approach to dung beetle conservation in livestock agriculture"
The Rowen Insect Agroecology lab focuses on investigating how sustainable ag supports arthropod-based ecosystem services and biological pest control. In particular, we are interested in how management practices that support soil health and integrate livestock can enhance conservation biological control and reduce plant susceptibility to arthropod pests. Current projects in the lab include 1) investigating the role of manures in weed and insect pest management in organic field crops, 2) supporting dung beetle populations to enhance soil health and parasite management in both West Virginia and California, 3) using cover crops in citrus production to enhance and retain natural enemies.
