In Spring 2021, the Apes Valentes Graduate Research Award supported the efforts of three graduate students in the ART571 Graphic Design II Studio Course, led by Professor Huiwon Lim.  Anjana Padmakumar, Shatakshi Mehra, and Blake Thresher designed visualizations to communicate complex data sets provided by members of the Center for Pollinator Research.  These projects explore plant-pollinator interactions, plant selection for pollinator habitat construction, and honey bee colony growth dynamics.  Guidance was provided by Center for Pollinator Research faculty members Heather Hines, Harland Patch and Christina Grozinger.  To read more about the student’s projects and the inspiration for their work, please visit the Insect Biodiversity Center website
