I am a Dutch national, but have lived and worked most of my adult life in Switzerland. As a chemical ecologist with a specific interest in plant-insect interactions, my research and teaching aim to generate and share knowledge that supports the development of innovative, sustainable agricultural practices.

I recently retired from my full professorship at the University of Neuchâtel, where I now serve as emeritus professor and continue to lead the research team Fundamental and Applied Research in Chemical Ecology (FARCE). In addition to my role as an Affiliate Faculty at Penn State, I am also a Foreign Expert Professor at Henan University in China, where I co-direct the research group Plant-Insect Research for Sustainable Agriculture (PIRSA).

Throughout my career, I have fostered international collaborations and interdisciplinary research. I am particularly interested in mentoring the next generation of scientists and promoting global initiatives that unite researchers across borders in a shared pursuit of peaceful cooperation and scientific breakthroughs.
