Job Responsibility: I provide visual design solutions and support for the departmental website by working with faculty, staff, and the Department Head. I continuously evaluate potential areas for enhancement, monitor compliance of Web pages with Penn State guidelines, and help maintain these standards by serving as a visual design consultant to faculty and staff. I do most of the departmental photography assignments for internal needs and publication by working closely with professors and students. Other photographic duties include, scanning slides and archived photos, printing photos, and preparing images for the web and publication. I help maintain the department insect fact sheet database by creating and updating informational documents on common insects. I am also the department illustrator. I work with faculty, staff and department groups to assess and incorporate their needs into effective and appealing illustrations. I serve on two committees, the Great Insect Fair and the Public Science Education Committee. I serve as a visual design consultant for both committees and help design newsletters, fliers, postcards, logos, brochures, etc... I utilize many different software applications during in my day-to-day workload including but not limited to Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat Professional and Plone. Examples of my departmental work and published photographs can be seen at my online portfolio.
