Job Description:

The College of Agricultural Sciences seeks an exceptional individual trained in Plant Science, Entomology, or Plant Pathology with commercial horticultural crop production experience to join our dynamic and successful Extension Horticulture Unit. This position assists in the goals and efforts of the State Extension Green Industry Team and contributes to the research, development, communication, marketing, and presentation of the team's initiatives. The primary focus is Green Industry and integrated pest management in Bucks County with a supporting role in Delaware, Montgomery, Lehigh and Northampton Counties. The individual will collaborate closely with University Park-based faculty to conduct applied research. This position demonstrates proficient and comprehensive knowledge of horticultural practices, and delivers such knowledge in trainings, educational programs, field visits, group meetings, displays, news articles, and other extension activities. The position will also provide instruction for the regional Master Gardener program.

Typically requires a Master's Degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. Review of applications will begin February 26, 2021

The College of Agricultural Sciences seeks an exceptional individual trained in Plant Science, Entomology, or Plant Pathology with commercial horticultural crop production experience to join our dynamic and successful Extension Horticulture Unit. The Extension Educator will provide leadership for planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs and serve as a technical resource for vegetable and small fruit growers in production practices, nutrition and water management, and the identification and management of major pests and diseases.

This position requires a master's degree or higher plus five years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Coursework in plant science, plant pathology, entomology, soils, and plant nutrition is preferred.  Critical performance measures include developing strategic educational outreach for the growing Pennsylvania vegetable and small fruit industry, building a diverse external funding portfolio including grants, contracts, cost recovery, and sponsorship, involvement with multi-state or national educational or applied research projects for the vegetable industry.

This position requires a valid driver's license and use of a private automobile. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties.
