Brain structure and function in the honey bee

Susan E. Fahrbach, Ph.D. is Reynolds Professor of Developmental Neuroscience in the Department of Biology at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. She received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania and her PhD in neurobiology from the Rockefeller University. After a postdoc working with Jim Truman on the endocrinology of metamorphosis in the Department of Zoology at the University of Washington, Seattle, in 1988 she joined the Department of Entomology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she remained until 2004. Her current research focuses on brain structure and function in the honey bee. She is Secretary of the International Society for Neuroethology, a member of many editorial boards including Journal of Comparative Neurology and Hormones and Behavior, and is author of a forthcoming textbook titled Developmental Neuroscience: A Concise Introduction.
