Scholarships and Endowments

Dutch Gold Honey and William R. Gamber II Endowment in Entomology
This endowment enriches the College of Agricultural Sciences at Penn State University Park by providing support for undergraduate students to assist with research in the Department of Entomology. Allocation Code: RCADG

Friends of Entomology Fund
This endowment provides monies for the enhancement of all program (teaching, research, extension) needs, hiring temporary help, purchase or rental of needed equipment, renovation of space, or other needs. Allocation code: XCAFE

Lloyd E. Adams Memorial Grant-in-Aid
This grant recognizes students enrolled or planning to enroll as M.S. and/or Ph.D. candidates in Economic Entomology. Allocation code: SCAAL

Lorenzo L. Langstroth Early Career Professorship in Entomology
This professorship recognizes and provides financial support allowing young faculty to direct initial energies to the classroom, establish a commitment to teaching, provide funds for research and offer early recognition for outstanding accomplishments. This professorship is awarded to an Entomology faculty member during the first ten years of their academic career in the College of Agricultural Sciences.  Allocation Code: WCALP

Michael E. Duke Memorial Scholarship in Entomology
This scholarship provides recognition and financial assistance to graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in Entomology. Allocation code: SCADX

Pollinator Research Endowment in the College of Agricultural Sciences
This Endowment provides funding to the Department of Entomology for support of programs and recognition related to honey bee and native pollinator research. Allocation code: RCAPR

Ralph O. Mumma Graduate Award
This award honors and recognizes outstanding achievment by a graduate student in the areas of Environmental Quality or Plant-Insect Interactions and is associated with the Department of Entomology. Allocation code: XCAMG

Vartkes Miroyan Memorial Award
This award honors and recognizes outstanding achievement by a graduate student. Allocation code: XCAMV

William T. Murray Endowment for Beekeeping
This endowment shall be to enrich the College of Agricultural Sciences at The Pennsylvania State University by providing monies for program support for the area of beekeeping in the Department of Entomology.  Allocation Code: XCAMW

William Yendol Memorial Research Fund in Entomology
This fund provides monies of graduate student travel for professional growth. Allocation code: SCAYW

Dr. Zane Smilowitz Endowment for Student Excellence
This endowment encourages and provides financial support for Entomology graduate students attending degree-related training opportunities outside of the classroom, including seminars and conferences.  Allocation Code: XCASU

Paul R. Heller Memorial Award

Help us continue our effort to raise funds to endow this award in memory of Paul Heller.

Dr. Paul Heller joined the Department of Entomology at Penn State in September 1976, as an Assistant Professor of Entomology with primary responsibilities in Christmas tree and turfgrass pest management.  He advanced to Professor of Entomology in 1989, serving the University for 33 years until his death on January 19, 2010.  Paul is remembered as a caring and humble man who was dedicated to students and their education.  This award will help provide support for student travel to professional meetings.
