Museum Programs
There will be no museum or school programs scheduled August - October 2012. Sorry for any inconvenience. Please visit the museum during regular hours.
Museum programs are approximately 30 minutes and cover general insect information unless a specific topic is requested. We have live insects that we show to groups, which are always popular. Due to the size of the museum, we can only accommodate group sizes of up to 25 young children. We strongly encourage and recommend smaller groups to make the experience more personal for the students and to give them more hands-on time with insects. Multiple, back-to-back programs can be scheduled for larger groups. Please keep in mind that the smaller the group, the more personal experience students will have at the museum.
The museum is handicap accessible, but again, is very small. Please keep this in mind when considering group size, especially during colder months with bulky coats or if you’re bringing young children in strollers. The only place to sit in the museum is on the floor. There is not a place to stow coats or strollers.
If you are inquiring about scheduling a program at the Frost Entomological Museum or at your school, see the information below. Programs at your school are much more difficult to schedule. Museum program requests are more likely to be filled.
To request a program, please answer the questions below and contact Amber Brunskill at (abrunskill@psu.edu) or 814-865-7994 at least 2 weeks in advance of your planned visit. She will see if anyone is available to give the program and get back with you to confirm the details. This can take some time! Programs will be scheduled as available volunteers allow. Unfortunately we are not always able to accommodate every request we receive.
Your name and contact information (please include phone number and email address)- Are you requesting a museum program or a program at your school?
- Do you require more than 1 program? If so, please indicate how many programs are needed to reach all of the students.
- Date(s) you would like the program.
- Time(s) you would like the program.
- Grade level(s) of the students.
- Number of students and adults that will be attending.
- If it is a program at your school, please give the location where the program is to be held.

If you need to cancel a program, please notify us as soon as possible. Call the Entomology Department at 814-865-1895 or Amber Brunskill at 814-865-7994. If the State College Area School District is delayed or closes due to inclement weather, the museum will cancel programs scheduled for that day.
