Soybean Sentinel Plot Program
The Soybean Sentinel Plot program is an effort funded by the Pennsylvania Soybean Promotion Board to track insect and disease populations in representative soybean field in 10 counties across Pennsylvania. These fields are scouted weekly by County Educators from Penn State Extension and their findings are reported here and through Penn State's Field Crop News to inform growers of the pests active in typical fields.
Fields scouted by Penn State Extension staff
Fields are scouted weekly for plant diseases and insect pests. The scouted fields are typical of each area and were planted with out tillage.
Pests are listed if found during scouting, then severity is rated on a 0-10 scale with 10 being the highest infestation.
