Current research activities:
In my PhD training I did microsatellite analysis of genetic structure of three dominant mangrove tree species in Iriomote Island, Japan. I am currently working on a project by the USDA which is performing phylogenetic and population genetics analysis of two economically important tephritid pest species using mitochondrial DNA sequencing and microsatellite markers. I am also working in a second project involving the DNA barcoding of all tephritid species for the Consortium on the Barcode of Life.
Research Interest:
Modern molecular biological approaches applied to molecular ecology, conservation genetics, evolution and related areas.
